knitted hat

With help from my talented and knowledgeable sister I actually followed a pattern and made this hat for my husband! The pattern is from “Stitch and Bitch Nation”.

In other news I am in yet another group show at Tribe Gallery and Theater Starting March 3rd at 510 N.W. Glisan in Portland Oregon AND the First Artist Trading Card meeting will be held at The Know on Alberta Street (also in Portland) on March 16th at 7pm:) If you want to know more about ATC’s visit my website or google Artist Trading cards for TONS of info.

Fork Hooks

Fork Hooks

I made these little hooks with forks leftover from my fork chandelier, which I haven’t yet posted but I’ll get around to it:)

I drilled holes in the handles of the forks with a drill press, bent them and nailed them to chunks of wood that I painted black. Sounds easy enough, eh? Oh I also drilled holes in the back of the wood chunks at an angle so they don’t fly off the wall if they get bumped.

Bathroom polka-dots

polkadotbathroom

This is a fun little project I finished a while back. You’d think painting the bathroom would be quick and easy but I managed to take several months to finish it. I started out thinking I would use a protractor but it turned out to be MUCH easier to just paint the circles freehand.

Shrinky Dinks

Bracelet
I love Shrinky Dinks!
I made this bracelet for my friend Kris in Minnesota who loves Bison.

To make your own Shrinky Dinks to use for jewelry, scrapbooking, luggage tags or whatever you can dream up, You will need:

- Shrink Plastic (I use PolyShrink brand that I purchased at Art Media–You can buy shrink
plastic at most arts and craft stores)

- Sandpaper (unless you can find shrink plastic that is pre-sanded)

- Anything you want to apply your designs with–Markers, crayons, colored pencils, rubber
stamps–I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work yet.

- A hole punch

- An oven

All you have to do is sand one side of the shrink plastic, apply your design to the sanded side (you might want to do a test first–to make sure you are making your design large enough to make the size you are shooting for–it shrinks up quite a bit), and punch a hole if your object calls for it. Then you put it in the oven on a piece of cardboard at whatever temperature the shrink plastic packaging suggests and watch it shrink!

If you are shrinking a large piece watch it closely–sometimes it will curl up and stick to itself a little–If this happens to you pull it out of the oven and use a utensil such as a fork to pull it apart while it’s still warm, flatten it out a little and put it back into the oven to continue shrinking.

Happy Shrinking!

Chalkboard Grocery List

null

Instructions:
This one’s pretty obvious–All you need is:

–Chalkboard paint (You can buy it in a bucket or in a spray can)
–Masking tape
–Something to paint (a board, a wall, whatever–in this case my bathroom door)

I took my door off it’s hinges and carried it to the back yard where I masked off the sides with tape and sprayed away. It only took 1 can of spray paint for the whole door:)
