Sfarkle Play Dough!!!

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

SOOOO FUN!

Mix together in a glass bowl:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 Tbsp veg oil
1 cup water
food coloring to your liking (blue is Scarlet’s fave)

Mix it up real good. It looks soupy, but don’t worry.
This is the part for the adults:
Next put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Take it out
and stir stir stir. Put it back in for two more minutes.
Take it out and stir stir stir again. If it isn’t quite set up
you can put it in for one more minute. Remove from bowl
(Be careful it will be hot!) and place on parchment paper.
Let it cool. When cool add LOTS of sfarkles (glitter).

We’ve been getting lots of snow for P-town:)

This is a pic from the other day.

Compared to today

Scarlet and I have been hibernating.

We built Candy Land from the ground up.

And of course we’ve been playing dress up having dance parties.

We are having fun but getting a little stir crazy.

Adventures in felting

Monday, October 27th, 2008

This is a pic of a thrifted wool sweater I felted (washed in hot water so it would shrink up)

And these are the cute little slippers I made for Scarlet out of parts of it.  I also made some arm warmers but it turns out that it is difficult to take photographs of your own arms.  Hopefully i’ll get them in a future post;)

Scarlet LOVES crayons!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

She loves to BREAK them, and then meticulously peel off their little paper sweaters. What to do with boxes full of broken peeled crayons? Make bigger+better crayons!

We grouped them in like-colors(ish) and baked them at 225.

Tah Dah! Brand new fist size crayons that are SUPER fun to stack or to pretend they are cupcakes and cookies and feed to mom and dad.

P.S. It’s easier to get them out of the muffin tin if you put them in the freezer for a bit–the wax will shrink slightly and they will pop right out. Don’t hand them straight to the kid though–When they are cold they will break easier. (Scarlet cried when she broke one of her new crayon/cookies.)

My biggest Scrapbooking accomplishment:

When I was pregnant a friend told me that her mother kept track

of her first 100 words and how she really treasured it and I decided

to try to do it. Of course deciding to do something and actually doing

it are totally different–but I pulled through on this one!  Here are the

results.
