Scarlet’s favorite thing to draw is DADDY!
She is surprisingly good at capturing him on paper.

Notice they all have the signature chin hairs:)

Does this not look exactly like him?

Daddy LOVES it when Scarlet gives him hair!

Check out the “rosy cheeks”. A 3/4 view–very advanced;)

Ha! Dad as Charlie Brown.

I love this one! Look at his smile and his cute little ears:)
Here are a few more she did today that surprised me:

A little slug. There is a story behind this one!

And a car!
It’s so fun to see what she comes up with.
We have stacks and stacks of drawings and we can easily go through a pad of paper in a few hours (thank goodness for the dollar store!)
As for the slug story…The other night Scarlet suddenly decided she was deathly afraid of slugs. She was screaming and crying and couldn’t stop thinking about how scary they were. I tried to calm her down by telling her they were teeny tiny and they couldn’t hurt her but nothing was working. She decided she needed to draw a slug but on her way to the easel she lost her nerve and rushed back to me sobbing “I can’t do it! It’s too scary!” she cried. I asked her if it would be okay if I drew and slug and she agreed. I drew a mommy slug, a daddy slug and a little boy slug who was eating a leaf. “They’re not scary at all!” she said and proceeded to draw some slugs of her own. Then she got out a fresh sheet of paper and said “Dear Slug” (scribble, scribble). So I asked her if she needed help writing a letter to the slugs and she brought me the paper. Here is what the letter says:
Dear Slug,
Welcome to my house. I am not scared of you.
Love, Scarlet
We taped it to the front door really really low so the slugs could see that they are welcome.
Those drawing are AMAZING!! I am so surprised how advanced her drawings are. She is so good. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because you are her mother and you are an amazing artist too. That is a super cute story about the slugs. You are such a good mommy.
That first picture reminds me of Home Star Runner…
What a cute little artist, she’s very talented! She’s adorable, I love reading your blog. You inspire me to do more creative things with Kali.
Scarlett - you draw so good I actually saw your dad’s likeness in your drawings….and about those slugs - good for you. You have a very clever mother who figured out exactly what would work with you. I think you have the bestest parents in the world for Scarlett. We love you and can’t wait to see you…P.S. there are no slugs at Nana and Papa’s house.
